Sometimes it will start right up,and other times it is hard to start. When it does it shuts off in about ten seconds. it has a 22 R E motor.

Hello,

This could be a problem with your idle control. I have included in the diagrams down below a Technical Service Bulletin(TSB) from Toyota and step by step instructions on how to adjust idle speed as well. Also, I have included a link down below that covers all other possible reasons for your vehicles condition. Get back to us and let us know what you find out.
