where is the fuel filter on a ford exploer 1995 xlt???

It's mounted inside the frame rail on the left side, just behind the driver.

Clean all dirt and/or grease from the fuel filter fittings. "Quick Connect'' fittings are used on models equipped with a pressurized fuel system. These fittings must be disconnected using the proper procedure or the fittings may be damaged. The fuel filter uses a "hairpin'' clip retainer. Spread the two hairpin clip legs about 1 / 8 in. (3mm) each to disengage it from the fitting, then pull the clip outward. Use finger pressure only; do not use any tools. Push the quick connect fittings onto the filter ends. Ford recommends that the retaining clips be replaced whenever removed. The fuel tubes used on these fuel systems are manufactured in 5 / 16 in. and 3 / 8 in. diameters. Each fuel tube takes a different size hairpin clip, so keep this in mind when purchasing new clips. A click will be heard when the hairpin clip snaps into its proper position. Pull on the lines with moderate pressure to ensure proper connection. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks. If the inertia switch (reset switch) was disconnected to relieve the fuel system pressure, cycle the ignition switch from the OFF to ON position several times to re-charge the fuel system before attempting to start the engine.

There is a special tool required. The tool is readily available at most parts stores and is not very expensive.

I used a sharpie cap and cut it to size and it worked perfect

FUEL FILTER LOCATION

REMOVAL CAUTION: If the fuel filter is being serviced with the rear of the truck higher than the front, or if the tank is pressurized, fuel leakage or siphoning from the tank fuel lines could occur. To prevent this condition, maintain the vehicle front end at or above the level of the rear of vehicle. Also, relieve tank pressure by loosening the fuel fill cap. Cap should be retightened after pressure is relieved. If vehicle is warm, change the fuel filter before the pressure rebuilds. 1.Shut engine Off. De-pressurize fuel system. Use caution to prevent combustion from fuel spillage. 2.Raise vehicle on hoist. 3.Remove push connect fittings at both ends of fuel filter. Install new retainer clips in each push connect fitting. 4.Remove filter from bracket by loosening filter retaining clamp enough to allow filter to pass through. INSTALLATION 1.Install filter in bracket, ensuring proper direction of flow as noted by arrow. Tighten clamp to 1.7-2.8 Nm (15-25 lb in) . NOTE: The "flow" arrow direction should be positioned as installed in bracket to ensure proper flow of fuel through the replacement filter. 2.Install push connect fittings at both ends of filter. 3.Lower vehicle. 4.Start engine and check for leaks.

My name is Tiffany. I am attempting to replace the fuel filter on my 1992 ford explore and am having some complications trying to take it off. I have pressed the pressure release valve and it just doesn't want to come off. Are there any tricks that i should know about. I would greatly appreciate the help.

Did you remove the to sliding clips on either end?

Also if it has been a while since last filter change it may take some elbow grease to get it off.

how do you take the fuel filter off? I'm having trouble with geting the fuel vlines loose

You need to buy a air conditioning and feul lline disconnect tool set. It cost like $10 at the parts store. It comes with 6 plastic rings (different sizes for different size fuellines) . You place one of the rings

around the fuel line and then push it towards the fuel filter and then pull the fuel line out. Make sure the fuel line is depressuirzed your you'll get waht ever fuel is in the line right in the face. I know from experience.

where is the fuel filter located at

Your fuel filter should be frame mounted (drivers side I think). You will find it along the fuel line from the tank to the engine under the seating area.

The fuel filter you're gonna need to go to autozone and purchase the removal tool. Either the little plastic ones that are like $7 that have a tendency to break or the metal one that's like a screwdriver that's much nicer that I don't know the price of.

Then just slip that around the fuel line and push it into the fitting and pull it apart.
