I have replaced two s sensors one should have been the output and one should have been input, but I still have an engine light on P0500 code. could this be and the transmission control module?

Okay, the vehicle speed sensor that sends a signal to the PCM is the ABS sensor on the rear differential. it uses the ABS signal for a sign of vehicle speed.

Check the connector for any damage or spread pins.
