2006 Volvo XC70 noise when shifting transmission

The noise you are describing sounds like the axles are making noise. Usually customers complain that the noise sounds like a ping? Stand on the side of the front wheels and have some one do the garage shifts. If you hear the noise coming from the wheels then it is the axles making noise. One repair that was done was apply metal glue on the axle splines an that would take care of the noise but if you need to remove the axles again you can forget about trying to get those things off? You may want to try to put some wheel bearing grease on the splines and see if that helps? If not then you will need to replace the axles.
