2001 Volvo V70 take off shift knob

2001 Volvo V70 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 88,000 miles

Do you have any idea ho to take off the shift knob easily without going to the specialist. I just need to replace it because my is broken.

Put it in nuetral with the e-brake on. On the upper part of the boot feel for a snap ring. Twist and pull down on it. When you have done that hold the button in and pull up on the knob. This will not be easy and be carefull not to smack your face when it comes up. To install the new one I usually just grab a bundle of clean rags and put it over the knob and hit it with a rubber mallet. Then after reinstall the boot. Good luck and hope this helps.
