Your symptom described seems to point to a engine idling problem.

What is the engine idling rpm?
Is there any indicators lights showong?

Thanks for your timely answer. We failed in our last communication to mention the car was serviced last month and the throttle body was checked and clean. Still the problem of surging forward when the car is driven to a stop persist. As we stated previously this car was check out at the volvo dealership prior to the sale. At that time the front engine seals were replaced, also a new timing belt and tune up were done on the car, plus the oil was changed. Please advise. Thanks, Dan .

You did not reply to my questions about the idling speed and Check Engine Lamp.

Does the surge happen at every stop or only occasionally?
When AC is turned on or off, is there any differences in idling rpm?

I think that I had the described problem happen with my vehicle for the first 20,000 miles until I could get the dealer to really spend some time on diagnosis.

Here is what we ended up doing. The receipt says " there was a solenoide failure, diag. removed and replaced valve body and harness per TNN 43-38." It was reassembled and has worked perfect ever since. I now have 90,000 miles on the car. I love the Volvo..

By the way, this was a transmission problem....

I would bet that you still have a throttle module problem. These don't always set a code but need to either fail the test that the dealer can perform or have a certain fail code. These are warranted for 10yrs or 200,000 miles as you may know. Have your dealer drive and test again. leave it with them and tell them to drive it as much as need to confirm the problem.
