2000 Volvo V70 Stalling out

I bought this car recently and have noticed that I have to warm it for five minutes or so in the winter weather or it will stall out or almost stall when I push the accelerator.
Is this a significant problem? Does it relate to the fuel injectors or is it just a cold engine needing to warm up?
Will an additive to the fuel help?

When starting from cold, the engine should be operating at a higher rpm for a short while till the engine operating temperature heats up. This will prevent the engine stalling.

What is the engine rpm at cold start up? If it is below 1500 rpm, then you most probably have a fault with the cold start system.
