The starter is turning, the battery is working and there is plenty of gas in the car. I can't get it to a shop because I have no extra money right now to tow it. The car will turn on for about 1 second, and then stall. And then it won't start again.

Is this common? Is there any way I can fix this issue myself? A friend thought it might be a fuel filter problem? I don't know enough about cars to do any kind of diagnostic.

Get your friend to help-check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge designed for your fuel system and then comeback with the readings we start here.
