2004 Volvo S80 stuck in park

Could be a few things. Next time that happens make sure the brake lights do come on when you step on the brake to get it out of park. If it wont come out of park and the brake lights dont work, you have a bad brake light switch. If the lights do come on remove the side panel on center console on the drivers side. Turn ignition key on and off and make sure the shift lock cable slides back and forth when you do that. If not, get some WD-40 and spray the cable down and try to clean it up. Any kind of spillage like coffee or soda will make the shiftlock cable stick and make it hard to get it out of park. If that is ok when you cant get it out of park then the microswitch has faild and will need replacing. Hope this helps.
