2001 Volvo S80

My front left wheel area is rattling and squeaking on my volvo S80. I was told that it was the strut mount causing all the squeaking and rattling. Does that sound like a suffice answer? and if so, is it dangerous for me to be driving like that?

Real common problem is actually the spring seats breaking. Also the struts themselves can make a rattle noise. My S-80's front right strut and rear right shock is making noise also and has being for almost a year? It is annoying and I hope I will get to it soon but dont see it being unsafe unless the spring seat itself breaks. If the spring seat is broken you can actually see it by bouncing on the car and looking at the rubber. Next time I do spring seats I will take some picturs and post them up.

O.K. took some pics with my camera phone of the broken spring seat and a new one but my notes are too small? I put the pictures like this. Broken spring seat, new spring seat, brokenspring seat, new springseat, broken spring seat, new spring seat.
