Electrical problem
2001 Volvo S80 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
OK, here is what I found out from the Volvo Dealer. Apparently, when they plug into the car's computer, what needs to be replaced in the Rear Electronics Box, NOT the relays. I have info. below from a parts dealer that the cost to replace the rear electronics box, part # 8645729 is:

My next question is this. My expensive VOLVO deallership indicated that a computer software download is required for installation. They are quoting a total fee of $625.00 for the new rear electronics box & installation. This seems outrageous since the actual part is only $253.00. Is there any other way around this?
I am a single Mother - and $625 is a lot of money. My Volvo is a 2001 S-80 T6 with 115K miles - I want to keep it going, but I think that my Volvo Dealership is ripping me off on this part & installation! Please help! Any ideas?
