Smells problem
2002 Volvo S60 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles

There is a really bad smell of gasoline in and around my car. It's not as bad outside as it is inside the car. It has gotten worse over the past few days. There is no leak so i don't know what the problem would be. I know there was a recall on the Fuel Pump for my year and model, however, i don't see why the Fuel Pump would cause my car to make this smell.

Have the recall done on your car if it has not being done yet. The recall is being done because of a potential that the fuel pump would leak. The smell is strong inside the car because the rear seats need to be removed to access the pump. You are also covered by a 10 year/150k mile extended warranty on the fuel pump.

THERE IS A RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY DUE TO LEAKAGE FROM THE HOUSING. IF THE RECALL PERTAINS TO YOUR CAR, THERE IS NO EXPIRATION. MY SUGGESTION IS THAT YOU TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAINTHE SITUATION. THEY CAN CHECK THE VIN AND VERIFY IF IT APPLIES TO YOUR CAR. IF IT APPLIES, THEN THE RECALL WILL BE PERFORMED AT NO CHARGE. DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRY!
