An oil leak coming from my engine has been identified/located behind the timing belt and/or water pump area. To replace/fix either the valve cover gasket/s and/or the camshaft seal/s several parts including the timing belt must be removed. Before I fix the problem and remove parts...what measure/s need to be applied to the timing belt after it is put back in the car? What can I do to ensure the timing is exact? If the timing is not exact...can the car be started/driven without causing damage? In other words...can I start and drive the car to have the timing adjusted without any damage?
