Engine Performance problem
2001 Volvo S60 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100k miles

I replaced the oils separator due to a rough, low idle.  Now it idles around 3000 RPMs.  I imagine someone adjusted it way up to compensate for the separator problem before I got it. How do I adjust the idle back down?

The idle is not adjustable on this vehicle. When you replaced the oil trap, did you also clean the banjo?

As you can see, I ran a thin wire through to break down the sludge and sprayed some carb cleaner to verify it comes out the other end. After that I cleaned out the throttle. Tried making it look pretty :)

After I used a vacuum gauge made for checking the pcv system

I have vacuum of -0.35kpa which is good. If doing all this you still have trouble, call Volvo to see if you have the 10 year/200k mile extended warranty on the thottle. Just give them your VIN# and they can check. If the throttle is covered under the extended warranty and diagnosis reveals it is bad, Volvo will replace it free of charge. Good luck and keep me posted.
