when i open the oil filler cap while the engine is runing spots of oil shoot out. Is this normal. I used to own a ford and it didnt do this. I just need to know if there is a problem

Most cars do that. Volvo does it, Toyota does it, Nissan does it. So yes there are a few cars that do that so please remember to put back the oil cap back on after you fill the engine or you will have a pretty good mess.
