Electrical problem

My cars indicator lights come on go off randomly. It happens more in the summer and less in the winter. The check engine light stays on, but it didn't when this problem first occured. It too came on and went off randomly. When it happens the brake and abs lights come on , when this happens the speedometer fails and the radio (sound) dims. sometimes the shift light comes on too and in some cases makes the car run funny(probably due to the tansmission unable to shift properly due to the speed sensor failer) like I said this happens randomly. I took it in and I told them that I thought it was a ground. The comper said it was a bad speed sensor and talked me into changing it even though I didnt think that was the problem. I couldn't see it being bad if it worked part of the time. They changed it and it did no good , they said I could be right about it being a ground. I dont want to wast more money taking it in untill I have a better understanding of what can be the problem can you help me out?
