Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Volvo C70 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 124000 miles

My engine is a 5-Cylinder Turbo charged. When operating my car in 'Park' or "nuetral' my engine revves (from an idle RPM to a higher RPM) in an oscillating fashion. This does not happen when the car is in 'Drive' or 'Reverse'. Any idea what's causing this?

Hi Whosyodaddyooorah,

Thank you for the donation.

The idling speed is higher than expected causing the surging.

• Check coolant temperature sensor and connection.
• Check air temperature sensor and mass airflow meter.
• Check coolant temperature sensor.
• Ensure spark plugs are not fouled.
• Check ignition and sensor wires for proper connection.
• Check ignition and coil circuit.
• Check intake system.
• Check coolant level.
