1996 Volvo 850 Automatic

I was driving down the highway, and my engine overheated. When I went to check the engine, coolant was leaking everywhere. TWo things: 1. What could be wrong 2. How can I fix it

check change thermostat, and engine coolant temperature sensor, also verify that fan is working properly,
