I have a 1991 Volvo 740 8 valve non-turbo with 144,000 miles. When I start the car cold, it idles really rough until I give it some gas. At 3500 rpms it runs fine...until I let off the gas, then it just makes a backfiring sound from the front...runs real rough and stalls out. I've replaced the distributor cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter. Wondering maybe if its the cold start valve? I don't know and I hate like hell to junk the car, because I've had it since day one and love it.
