Engine Cooling problem
1990 Volvo 740 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 186k miles
Basically this has built up a little bit, my coolant would leak little by little, not so much that it hurt my car. However i'd go thru about 3-4 gallons of coolant a week, as of the other week.
Well tonight i got home, put my car in park turned it off and began to walk away when i noticed a stream starting, it was pure coolant. So quickly reacting i popped the hood to find a pure stream coming from right behind the fan, i guess below the timing bealt where the water pump is? Well i went to a mechanice earlier today to get an estimate and he said i could still drive it just watch the thermostat and make sure it doesnt overheat. The thermostat was floating in the middle, wasnt over-heating when this 'stream' appeared.
I have no idea what is causing this and would like some help please, is it worth repairing? Its a 20yr old car with almost 200,000 miles on it.. 186,000 to be exact(ish).
