I am currently putting in a new higher amperage alternator, i am just curious can I damage the voltage regulator in my ECU if the amperage need exceeds what the alternator output capability? As i recently had my new re-manufactured ECU voltage regulator in my ECU go out.

I do not know why you are trying to modify this in the first place. I am betting you put in one of those nine million watt amplifiers so the people three blocks over can hear you approaching. If that is the case, my advice is to stop doing that and keep the vehicle factory original.

I do not recommend modifying the factory charging system.
