1979 Volkswagen Rabbit 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

my Rabbit want do anything when i turn the key on the light for the glow plugs will come on and go off like it is suppose to. I replaced the stareter relay switch,checked the battery and cables and starter.HELP ME PLEAE

Online data for this model is not available to me so we will have to go by testing which would be easier if you have a test lamp.

I am not sure of the system used so you would have to fill me in.

1. How many wires do you have at the ignition switch?
2. Is starter switch with the ignition key or do you have a separate switch?
3. When trying to crank the engine, does the starter relay clicks?
Did you try using a remote wire to starter and try to crank engine and did it work?
4. Did you check if power is getting to the starter relay and out of it?
