2003 Volkswagen Passat turn signal

It appears that your blinkers and emergency flasher all run through the same switch/relay. Does this same problem happen when you turn the emergency flashers on? You might try it.

When this happens, try pulling fuses 2 and 39 and see if this stops.

I do have a lengthy test you can do on the switch if you would like me to send that you you.

My main wiring diagram program is down……..

I want to try and narrow it down to either the switch on the steering column or the flasher switch in the dash.

I think it is the one in the dash…..the flasher switch since both run through this and it is the relay.

When you did your test you only pulled one fuse. What I would like you to do is know where fuse 2 and 39 are. Fuse 2 is for the turn signals and fuse 39 is the flasher system.

Please pull fuse 39 and then turn your car on and see if your blinkers still work….not just come on steady but actually work. If they do then do the below. If not then

Next time it does this remove fuse 39 first. See what it does.

Then drive for a while without the fuse 39 in and see if it happens again.

I read through the testing of the system…my original thought was to send that to you and I can…but you need a fluke meter and another piece of test equipment.

At the end of he very long test it states: “Note: If malfunction has not been eliminated after all test steps, replace Emergency Flasher Switch (E3).”

So my thought is for you to replace the Emergency Flasher Switch in the dash.
