Hello - Since you didn't the specific type of Passat, this is for a Passat Sedan, 2.8L.

Antenna mast 2 - Antenna base Amplifier is integrated into antenna base Removing and installing: Pull down headliner at rear Disconnect antenna cable -3- and remove nut -5-. 3 - Antenna cable Routed from antenna base to center console. 4 - Antenna cable Routed from center console to radio. 5 - Hex nut M14 With integrated serrated washer. Apply contact grease to roof panel when replacing . 6 *) Not for telephone system - Gasket

The Passat models use a roof-mounted antenna, which is threaded into an antenna base. To remove the antenna, rotate the antenna mast counterclockwise to remove.

To remove the antenna base;

Remove the rear trim as necessary to allow access via the rear portion of the headliner.
Disconnect the antenna lead and if amplified, the wiring.
Using a 22mm (7/8 inch) short open-end wrench, loosen and remove the base mounting nut, then remove the base and if installed, the seal.
Installation is in reverse order of removal.
