1991 Volkswagen Passat Will not stay charged!

Electrical problem
1991 Volkswagen Passat 4 cyl Manual 83,161 miles

Once I get it running it runs great! My problem is, it won't keep a charge. I have to jump it and sometimes it takes awhile to turn over.

Either the battery is sulfated or the alternator is not putting out-Get the charging system checked out

My friend had already changed the alternator before I bought it from him. I put in a new battery yesterday and got it to run but when I went out this morning to go to work I had to jump it off with my wife's car, took 30 minutes to take the jump.

Sounds like there's a short circuit somewhere in the electrical system that's draining the battery overnite. Do a battery drain test.
