my engine shakes violently

my engine shakes violently while idled, at a rest, while engaged and driving there is not a problem.

i drive a 2000 vw jetta that has 120,000 miles on it the engine size is standard.

I had the same problem, new Ignition Wire Set and new Spark Plugs, now it runs like new , don't be cheap and get good wires set but don't be stupid and go to dealership.I drive 99 jetta and I went to VW dealership and paid $150 with a discount ( org $175 ) , you can find the same wires on internet for less than $100 ... you learn everyday :)
