I purchased a 2000 Golf a few months ago used. There are approximately 75000 km's on it. The previous owner appeared to take good care of it and did some work to it. While in our possesion we have replaced the timing belt. The problem we are having is with the temperature gauge. Just recently it easily over heats while on the highway, and once stopped will drop back down to normal. Also, while at normal temperature the warning will come on for no reason. After a few moments the warning light will go off and stay at normal temperature. What is going on?
