How difficult is it to replace the outside drivers door handle on a 1989 VW Fox?

It is slick as chicken lips to change. Peel back the rubber moulding behind the door handle, take out the phillips screw pick up slightly and slide it out to the rear of the car.

What is the process for disconnecting the old handle and connecting the new one in regards to the locking mechanism?
