Does anyone know if you need to have the comfort control module reprogrammed by the dealer? My unit is bad, (verified by the dealer) and I purchased one from a junk yard. Not sure if I am able just to plug it in. From my understanding this module controls most of the comfort options (heated seats, power locks, power mirrors, etc). Power mirrors no longer work and power locks work once in a while.

Thanks, Darin

Nope. Its not the CCM that needs to be reprogrammed. The keys that have keyless entry have to be programmed. You can do so if you have a master key and a spare key with keyless entry. You can easily find the process by searching here www.vwvortex.com for Keyless entry reprogramming or googling it. It only takes a whole 20-30 seconds to do so. As for the remaining issues, Just give your car a while to adjust to the new CCM. I know it sounds like a joke, but my car had to "get used to" the new CCM before it would work properly. Just kinda gotta let it do its thing. Hope this helps!

Thank you. I found the reprogramming instructions in the manual. As for the dealer - they wanted to charge me 2 hours labor to reprogram. You were also right about the CCM. At first, it seemed like the new box did not solve my problems. But after a day or so, everything seemed to work fine. 2 weeks later and still no problems.

Glad to be of some help :) Same thing will happen if your batteries die in your keyless entry. Another issue is that with the keyless entry and the door locking mechanism, there was a poor soldering job done on the actuator, so sometimes the alarm will not deactivate when you unlock it, or wont activate when you lock it, etc. That isnt the CCM either, which is why im telling you this. The door locking mechanism just needs 4 points to be resoldered. But lets hope you never have to deal with that!
