Ok, I have a 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 with approximately 114,000 miles on it. I am having a problem with disarming the alarm system. I was sold the car with only the valet key, and have been using that exclusively without realizing that it might be a problem.
Now I go to unlock my door, and the key will not disarm the alarm. It will not unlock all 4 doors, and will only grudgingly raise the drivers side lock. As such, I can get into my car but cannot disarm the alarm or unlock the other 3 doors. It's like the key isn't catching the internal lock...Help!

Not sure if that is a coded key or not.Might want to take it to the dealer, they can run the vin# and cut the right key for the anti-theft system to read if it is coded. At worst they can do a diagnostic and see if maybe there is a sensor out in the latch assembly or something of that nature
