1988 Volkswagen idling when hot

hey guys
when i start my motor when its hot it starts up fine but cuts off(doesnt idle).but if i rev it to like 6000 rpm after i start it then it idles normal.any idea whats the problem?(when its cold it starts and idles fine)

sounds like a issue wiht a sort of vapor lock.

try draining out fuel pressure when turning off vehicle each time then next time before starter try to start it, does it run without the rev?
