1974 Other Volkswagen Models spark plugs,firing order,distri

can someone please help. We just purchased this vw camper and are in the process of giving it a tuneup. We have changed the ignition coil,oil,filter,and sparkplugs. We have purchased the distributor cap,rotor and new plug wires. How can you tell by looking at the distributor what wires go where? Apparently the firing order is the same in all air cooled vw motors or so we were told. By the way this is a pancake motor if that matters.
