Shakes or Wobbles problem
2010 Volkswagen Jetta Front Wheel Drive Automatic
Hi there! I'm having an interesting shake issue with my car. I'll set up the scene - basically, someone changed lanes into the side of my brand new car on the freeway (hitting the right side). It basically took out my passenger side mirror, and tore back a piece of the right rear quarter panel. When I got the car repaired, the collision repair center did an alignment on my car.
When I got the car back, I noticed that it shook just a tiny bit. The shaking got a little worse, and then I realized that even though my alignment had been "done", my car now pulled to the right. So, about a week later, I went and had my alignment re-done. That didn't fix the shake issue. So, the same day I went and had my tires balanced and rotated. A couple of the tires were off, which still did not fix the shake. When I described the issue to the tire repair center, they told me that what I described could have been a bent rim, but they would let me know. No bent rim.
Even on a completely smooth road/street/etc, if feels like the car is bouncing a little bit.. from the back. I have a bottle of water in the drink holder, and you can see the vibrations from the car at any speed (doesn't matter if you're going 10mph or 70). The car rode so smooth pre-repair.
It feels like the shake is coming from the back of the car, and I noticed on the right rear tire (the area of the "accident") there is a bit of brake dust (or rust) on the area around the rotor. I checked the left rear side, and it looks nothing like the right.
So, I've ruled out balance issues, and alignment issues. What next? Do I need to have the rotors resurfaced, or turned? Did the impact possible push the tire in and jack up anything in its way? My roommate actually said that it "looks like" the wheel just isn't sitting right when I back up or move forward. Although he may just be a little crazy. I've attached a picture of both.
Any direction/help immensely appreciated!
