Thanks in advance for your help! I have a 2002 Jetta and my key is stuck in the ignition. The other day it did this a couple of times, and simply shifting from park to drive and back to park solved the issue and the key came right out. Now it won't come out at all. I am a police officer working three more days of 12 hour shifts, so it will be a few days till I can get it to a repair shop, so any help getting the key out until then will be GREATLY appreciated! thanks!

Hi jp0379, Thank you for the donation. Seems the key interlock cable is out of adjustment and here are the procedures for readjusting the cable to get it working again. Locking cable for ignition with key withdrawal lock, removing and installing. Only vehicles with automatic transmission Adjust locking cable Unhooking â—¦ Remove steering wheel â—¦ Remove trim for steering column switch â—¦ Shift selector lever into position "P" if necessary.
