Mechanic says I need a new computer for 2002 Jetta. Checked on some used computers because of price considerations. My question, is it possible to replace the computer with a used one and still have it reprogrammed?

you can replace the vehicle ECM with a used ECM that will fit that year and model car. Not sure what you mean by reprogramming it? But as long as you get a used ecm from same year, model and engine type it will plug in and work. A dealer will have to program the used ecm to instrument cluster and immobilizer
