Electrical problem

Hi,
I own a Vw Jetta ("Bora" for middle-east), model 2000 here in Kuwait.
This is my first experience with Any german Car.
My main problem is that some times i can only open the vehicle with the keyRemote but cannot close it...upon pressing the close button, i just hear a click sound as if its trying to close and it never closes.
Also closing the car with the key only closes the driver side door.
Some times it works like a charm, so i thought some thing wrong in driver side door.
I tried to lock the car with the passemger side with the key instead of remote and all of the doors locked up and worked well.
Any help.
