1995 Volkswagen Jetta Turns over but won't start.

Recheck timing marks and firing order

How can i check the coil ?

? Disconnect harness connector from Ignition Coil Power Output Stage (N157).
? Disconnect ignition wire from Ignition Coil (N152).
? Switch multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to resistance range.
? Connect multimeter between Ignition Coil terminals -1- and -15- and measure primary resistance.
? Primary resistance: 0.5-0.7 Ohms
? Connect multimeter between Ignition Coil terminals -4- and -15- and measure secondary resistance.
? Secondary resistance: 3000-4000 Ohms
If resistance values are not within the specified ranges:
? Remove Ignition Coil (N152) and replace Ignition Coil Power Output Stage (N157)..
? Repeat primary and secondary resistance checks.

Ok now if the coil comes out ok and everything else is correct as far as the timing and firing order could it be anything else ?

but You have to take it one step at a time

ok coil checked out good found a broken wire on the distributor plug got new plug wired it back in still won't fire up. I'm about to take it in and have it fixed but really don't want too. What would be the next thing to check ?

Do u have power at the coil
when key on ?
and you are sure that you have no spark

Yes we are getting power at the coil when key is on and yes positive we are getting no spark.

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, CHECKING Disconnect harness connector on Camshaft Position Sensor at Ignition Distributor. Connect Fluke 83 multimeter with adapter cables from VW 1594 to measure voltage across outer terminals of connector.

Switch ignition ON. Specified values: Up to 10.93 production, 49-states: 10 Volts min. Up to 10.93 production, California: 5 Volts min. From 10.93 production, all vehicles: 5 Volts min. If OK: Replace Ignition Distributor. See Ignition distributor, removing/installing . If NOT OK: Replace Motronic Engine Control Module (J220).

Could u give me a pic of where the Motronic Engine Control Module is located the book i have don't show u much as far as location.

what exactly is the Montronic Engine control module?

ok replaced the coil along with the module that is attached to it .... just replaced the ecm and still no spark and getting no voltage at the plug for the distributor. What else can u think to check?

Remove the distributor cap and crank engine does the rotor rotate ?

Yes the rotor turns.

I have already checked all the fuses and all were good. Is there any kinda relay,fuse,or fuseable link that could cause anything like this ?

Yes the wires and plugs are fine matter of fact we had to take the plugs out yesterday cause we flooded it trying to get it started . Ok if the relay is getting power any way to tell if its bad ?

Mark it and switch it with a similar one
u know that you have a crank sensor or engine speed sensor at the rear of the engine by the flywheel
you may wont’s to give it a check

We know about the Crank sensor but we can't seem to find it anywhere .... do u have a pic that shows about where it is located ? we are having no luck finding it .

Ok the relay #3 didn't change anything i even bought a brand new one is it possible that isn't the slot for it ? the Crank sensor is plugged in what else could i check?

Disconnect connector from camshaft position sensor (ignition distributor)
check ohm between terminals 1+2
1+3 maximum resistance 1.5 ohm
if not replace

Ok checked the terminals on distributor and checks out good . Now what could i check ? Remember i'm getting no spark.

need to scan for codes
you had checked and tested every thing possible
have to check for codes
lets see what or where that will take us to!

is there any way of jumpering some thing to get the codes with out scanner?

your is an OBDII ready check at your local part store if you can rent one .

try to lock and unlock the door or the trunk using the key
