Transmission problem
1992 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual
Recently I had the driver side front ball joint go out, when it went it tore up the axle. I had to have it towed home and the tow truck driver had to drag the car on to the truck with the now dangeling wheel fighting the whole way. Ok so long story short. I replaced the ball joint and the axle (it was the bolt on type so I never had to mess with transmission). Well I went to test drive it and discovered that 1st gear is now where reverse was and reverse is no where to be found. Also there is much more play in the stick shift then there used to be. It still locks into place when in gear but there is no resistance when moving between gears. I don't know how fifth gear works because I never got going that fast. I'd like to donate but I spent all my money on car parts. Please help me.
