When in first gear and rolling (no pedals pushed) there is this whiny high pitched noise coming from the engine bay. If you push on the gas it goes away, if you push the clutch in it goes away. There is a slight noise when in second too, but much more noticeable in 1st.

The dealership doesn't know what's going on. They replaced the 1st gear to see if it would go away, but nothing changed. So now they're claiming it's normal. It only happened a few weeks ago so it's definitely not normal and it gets louder the longer you drive (i guess something heats up).

Noises over the net are tough, but as a shot, with a slight load and a whine appears, it could be a serp belt and or tensioner pulley, try removing the belt and spinning the pulleys, alternator, tensioner, idler, and A/C, any roughness means a part replacement.
