We purchased a 2003 golf a few weeks ago. After a couple of days we started having difficulty with the shifter engaging from park to reverse. It was stuck in the park position. We brought it back to the dealer and they changed the switch under the brake pedal and everything seemed to be fine.
Two weeks later the shifter is again sticking however it only occurs in the A.M. when we first get into the car for the day. If I warm the car up for 4-5 minutes the shifter works fine.
I am concerned that I have an issue with the linkage connected to the shifter or even worce a transmision problem. Could it be that I just have a faulty switch?
