How to I go about taking inside panel off of 2004 beeltle convertible to check if regulator is bad? Do you have a step by step instruction that I can follow?? Went 2 VW dealer today and they wanted 600 to fix regulator. My window is down in the door and I just need to pull it back up for now.

first disconnect the battery as you will have the door open quite a while. pry off plastic cover on door handle(about 8 inches long,looks like a bananna).Then take the two phillips screws out of handle.Then take out the 3 torx screws out of the bottom of panel.the panel is now loose but you will have to manipulate it up and then out at the bottom the get it away far enough to disconnect the wire plug ins and latch cable and door lock button.Once you get the panel off you may be able the see that you will have to remove all the torx screws out of the perimiter of the regulator assy unplug speaker ,window motor and door lock assy (under button).Then push assy up and out at the bottom then slide down and out. It's not easy but you can get it if you are very patient and motivated. Let me know if you have any other questions.
