2002 Volkswagen Beetle Trunk Won't Close

The trunk on my 2002 VW Turbo Beetle was acting up several times by not closing. I would have to take my key and manually open the trunk and then close it. When I put my key into the trunk lock and turned it counter clockwise and clockwise it would make a noise. Well now my trunk will not close at all. I have tried putting my key into the trunk lock and turning it as before but it will only turn counter clockwise. It will not even try to turn clockwise. I really need to get this fixed. Do you know of a way to do this or do you think something like this would be covered under warranty?

Sounds like the latch assembly is broken.You are most likely out of warranty at that mileage/age of vehicle.Shouldnt be too difficult to replace, my software doesnt give any instructions though.Lock/latch assemblies are usually pretty simple though if you look at it to see what needs to be done before ripping it apart
