I am getting a P0340 camshaft position sensor malfunction. Does this mean sensor is bad or ecu system needs recalibration? I replaced a bad cylinder head.

Ok I would not do to much yet as we need to test to see if it is bad or if there is a wire problem. So with that said do you have a digital multi meter? You do know where the sensor is right? Get back to me and we will go from there. Thanks and have a great day.

I have had it off and looked at it. I do not have a digital multi-meter but will get one if necessary

Ok what I need you to do is unplug the sensor and use you meter set on 20 volts unless it has a 12 volt setting and between term 1 and term 3 check voltage should read 4.5 volts with key on engine off. Here is a pic of the term and which pins you need to test between.

If this checks out ok then you need to replace the sensor and then go have it scanned and clear the codes. If you do not have a scanner call your local parts stores and find one that does a free scan and have them do it. Let me how this goes ok.
