how do i change the front disc pads on the bug

Hi iam1jones, Here are the procedures. Brake pads, removing and installing Removing â—¦ Remove wheels. â—¦ Remove cover caps.

â—¦ Disconnect connector - 1 - on vehicles with brake pad wear indicator (left side).

â—¦ Remove both guide pins - arrows - from brake caliper. â—¦ Remove brake caliper housing and secure with wire so that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage the brake hose. â—¦ Remove brake pads from brake caliper housing. Only use methylated spirit for cleaning the brake caliper housing. Installing NOTE: "¢ Press piston back in the cylinder with piston resetting tool before installing new pads. Before pressing the piston back, draw off brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir using a bleeder bottle. Otherwise, if the reservoir has been topped off, fluid will overflow and cause damage.

â—¦ Insert inner brake pad (piston side) - 1 - and outer brake pad - 2 - in brake caliper housing with retaining springs. "¢ Inner brake pad (piston side) with large 3 finger clip - 1 - . "¢ Outer brake pad with small 3 finger clip - 2 - (black). â—¦ Insert brake pad with black 3 finger clip into brake caliper housing.

â—¦ Locate lower part of brake caliper housing - arrow - first. â—¦ Install brake caliper with brake pads on wheel bearing housing.

The brake caliper lug - arrow - must be behind the wheel bearing housing guide. â—¦ Secure brake caliper housing to brake carrier with both guide pins and tighten to 28 Nm â—¦ Insert brake pad wear indicator connector into retainer on suspension strut (left side). â—¦ Install wheels. NOTE: "¢ After each brake pad change firmly depress brake pedal several times with vehicle stationary, so the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position. "¢ Check brake fluid level after changing brake pads. Torque settings: Guide pins to brake carrier 28 Nm
