Hi. Once a week or so my VW Beetle won't start.
The starter doesn't crank at all. i get out and push the car downhill and do a running jump start by putting it into first gear and letting the clutch pedal go. It always starts when I do this.
I just had a great tune up done. I've changed the starter and put a good Bosch starter in there. I've had the battery and the alternator checked by a mechanic and they checked out on his meter.
What would you suggest I do next? Would this car have a neutral safety switch? I think it has an ignition switch right? Thanks.

Try having the igntion switch tested and also if it has a clutch switch have that one checked too.

i have a 1974 vw . had same problem. i installed a auxilary solenoid at the stater. the reason not enough current comming from ignition switch, you can change the ignition switch, but you still have old wires with resistance from the switch to starter. most repair shops can do this in expensive fix for you.
