Engine Mechanical problem
1967 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual ? miles

I have bought a new turnkey engine and when I took the old engine out, I found out the flywheel is bigger than the new one. clutch assy won'tfit and I'm sure the flywheel installed won't reach the starter motor.
can I swap the flywheels?
I had a 1500 cc and got a 1600cc. both are six volt engines as the first part of the year that's what the beetles were. In mid-67 they swithced to a 12 volt system and now I 'm thinking the changed flywheel too? so the company sold me the newer engine with six volt electronics on it?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I do not think that you will have a problem swapping he flywheels, just make sure that you do gt it re faced before fitting as you may end up with clutch shudder.
