I recently needed a flex pipe repair and took it to a muffler shop for replacement. I assumed they would replace the entire flex pipe (the same part per OEM) from flange to flange. Instead they cut out the flex part of the pipe and welded in a new flex section.
When I picked up the car it had a bad vibration when the transmission is engaged. It is especially bad when the engine is cold an in reverse. The vibration lessens when the engine warms up.
The vibration did not occur before the repair. The shop insists it is unrelated to the repair and must be caused by something else.
Is the rigged flex pipe repair the cause or is it something else and if so what would it be?
