2003 Vauxhall Corsa Wont start

Four cylinder manual.

Hi, my friend has the car listed above and it will not start. I have looked at the spark plugs and the head and pistons and they all seem fine, somebody i know has said that a lot of the Corsa's have this problem. could you give me a lost of things to check please?
