2002 Vauxhall Corsa Am i being ripped off?

In july this year my car started overheating and i found the coolant was empty, upon taking it to the garage i was told that the water pump was broken and has to be replaced. The garage checked the engine and said that there were no further problems. Two weeks later it overheated again, upon taking it to the garage i was told that an engine coil had gone and needed to be replaced and that the water pump had come loose due to the vibrations of the engine. The coil was replced. last week the oil light on the dashboard come on and when taking it to the garage i was told that the oil pressure switch was leaking and needed to be replaced which was done. On Sunday the car started overheating again, i checked the coolant which was empty and the oil had emulisfied. Took the car to the garage on monday and have been told that the head gasket has gone probably due to a deteriation when the water pump originally broke. All these repairs will cost me close to 1000 pounds. Am i really unlucky or do you think that something else is the cause? Thank-you very much for your help,

Evary overheat causes gasket burning so.....i think the garage must do better check next time since the retard was from the first repair

Hi, i have been having a similar problem with my garage. My own mechanic was too busy so i went to my local garage to get an alternator fitted, when i got the car back, my temp gauge was not working, i brought it back and they said my temp sender switch was broke, mine is located beside my alternator, which the mechanic admidts he must of broken when he fitted the alternator. They charged me for a new switch and labour. I drove to work but temp gauge still not working. Brought it back again, they told me thermostat had blew. They now want to charge me a fortune for themostat replacement. i think i have been totally ripped off and that these problems were all caused by a bad mechanic in the first place. I refused to pay for the thermostat replacement just about an hour ago. I have been back to the garage about 10 times in the last week, they have cost me a lot of time since i first went there.
