2002 Vauxhall Corsa 2002 Corsa Will Not Crank

Hey. I would gladly offer any advice I can .. please could you explain the fault in more detail .. a simple NO Crank situation is generally indicating a bad battery, bad starter motor or wiring to starter motor ?

The car was purchased used a couple of months ago and has performed spotlessly. About a week ago, my girlfriend was driving it when it shut off in heavy traffic, leaving her stranded. She got towed to her house by RAC, and an RAC mechanic looked at it for a couple of hours. After a time delay, he was able to get it cranked, but it would then just stop running after about 10 minutes each time. It did this 2 or 3 times. I called and made arrangements to get a Vauxhall dealership to look at it this week. It would crank and we attempted to take it to the Vauxhall dealership, but it stopped again. We got it into a car park, and called RAC. We got it cranked once and it ran for about 4 minutes and shut off. This RAC mechanic hooked his laptop to it (I believe through the cigarette lighter power port). He looked at various parameters and felt like it showed all signs of being the crankshaft position sensor. I was looking over his shoulder and saw a number of parameters showed 'no entry' or 'no' something. He recommended a local mechanic that he knew that was closer so he towed it there. Once there, after having rested for at this point maybe 1 1/2 hours, it did crank briefly. We left it. I spoke to the mechanic today and he said they changed the crankshaft position sensor and that did not fix it. They felt like the main brain of the car was malfunctioning, explaining that it was getting some inputs but not providing outputs. They have sent it off to a place that tests the brains and can determine if it is malfunctional. If it is, that place will repair it and return it and we should be done. If it is not the brain, they will return it to the mechanic's shop and they will continue troubleshooting. Any further advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Did I mention I am pulling for England in the World Cup? LOL.

Hey. sorry for the delay in reply work and family commitments etc. I'm very surprised to hear they think the brain is the problem ? these cars are generally not known for bad computer's ! I would have advised you to change the CKP (crank sensor) this is a very common fault on this vehicle and you had all the symptoms of it being this ? please keep me informed of your repairs ! My wife (who is from Philly) is also rooting for England, she lived with me in England for 6 years before we came back here !! .. It will be interesting here on saturday (12th june) England v USA .. I may have to return home ...LOL ..

No worries on the delayed reply. Well, they sent the brain off and said some of the wiring or wiring harnesses associated with the fuel control was the issue, the brain was fixed and returned. My GF got the car back yesterday and it seems to be running fine. One other issue she had been having was having to pump the gas some to crank it sometimes and that symptom is now gone also. The repair came with a one-year warranty on the repair and all seems well. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply more than once on this.

I just got back from the UK and found one store that would sell you a TV and if England won the Cup, they will refund the money. You might want to hurry over and get one....
